Claridon Recreational Park

Claridon Township officials are pleased with the improvements that have been and are being done at the Township park on Rt. 608.  Land has been cleared and electricity has been installed.  The work of adding electricity to the pavilion and concession stand has begun.  Dugouts are being built for the existing ball fields, and an additional ball field and a soccer field are being considered for the community.  All costs have been paid with monies generated from a contract with Conneaut Telephone--$5,100/yr., recent tree harvesting at the park--$43,000, and collected estate funds.

The Claridon Trustees would like to recognize and thank the Claridon baseball staff for donating their time and effort by providing plans and constructing the dugouts.

Adult Business

In 2007, the Claridon Township Zoning Commission processed an amendment to limit Adult Businesses to only the Industrial zoned areas of the Township.  The Trustees are currently adding to the restrictions and are adopting a resolution for these businesses and their employees to carry detailed licenses.

Addition to Recycling

There is a dumpster (yellow and green) to be used for school and office paper, magazines, and newspapers.  Abitibi Consolidated is providing this service and will return a portion of the profits to Claridon Township. The Trustees will use the returned profits to fund projects in the Claridon Township parks. Please visit http://www.paperretriever.com/default.asp?id=174 for more information.
NO CARDBOARD!

The other dumpster (not the yellow and green one) is for #1 through #7 plastics, glass, aluminum cans, paper, junk mail, office paper and metals.  PLEASE NO CARDBOARD IN EITHER DUMPSTER!

License Plates

Claridon residents—remember to make certain that Claridon Township is listed as your township of residency when renewing your license plates.  Claridon residents have mailing addresses such as Burton, Chardon, East Claridon, and Huntsburg. The township receives a portion of your license plate tax dollars and uses these funds for road projects.

CRWP ASSISTANCE
Claridon residents having drainage concerns can contact Chagrin River Watershed Partners, Inc. (CRWP), a non profit organization, for assistance.  CRWP works with member townships on issues related to future growth and development.  CRWP also conducts evening workshops on pond maintenance, rain gardens, managing backyard streams and wetlands, etc.  Information is available from CRWP at www.crwp.org or contact a Claridon Township Trustee.

Emerald Ash Borer

Your help is needed! The green menace (Emerald Ash Borer--EAB) attacks ash trees and causes extensive destruction. It needs to be detected, controlled, and eradicated. If you think you have located an EAB, contact Ohio Department of Agriculture at 1-888-OHIO-EAB.

Extended Power Outage

During an extended power outage, we hope to provide a haven for those in need. Claridon Township has a generator for the Administrative Building at 13932 Mayfield Road. The generator was received through a Homeland Security grant.
